KH-Ledge
An atmospheric space that combines greenery, air, light and privacy. Over the past 50 years, partition screens have been common in offices around the world, used as space dividers and as carriers for power wiring. With the advent of mobile furniture and Wi-Fi, and the millennial generation pushing for a new work culture, it’s time to rethink the function of screens and their impact on modern office space design. If the screen is no longer a head-to-toe cover, and its purpose is no longer to completely block the view, but to define various functional spaces, how should it be designed? With the evolution of technology, screens are no longer carriers of cables. What would happen if they became carriers of ecological green plants?
"Liwo" is considered to be the practical application of biophilic design in office scenes. Biophila is a term in psychology that describes the inherent sense of well-being that humans have when they connect with nature. Introducing green plants into the work environment enhances a sense of freedom and mental vitality, and is considered by millennials to be an indispensable element of the modern workspace. A common misunderstanding is to simply understand biophilic design as adding a lot of plants, but it is actually much more profound than that and has many possibilities for interpretation. For example, maximizing the use of natural light, or using natural colors and natural materials in the workplace, such as a mixture of wood, metal and stone, and of course introducing green plants. Therefore, the design of the "fence nest" uses metal as the frame and wood as the connecting parts. The upper and lower areas of the screen remain completely transparent to facilitate lighting and promote air circulation; the screen's green plant trough is used to grow green potted plants, and the natural-colored woven rope is used as the main cover. In the office environment, using natural colors and natural materials can help people relax. Air circulation helps increase oxygen flow and helps employees stay alert and focused. Many studies have shown that biophilic design is beneficial to improving team productivity, creativity and happiness, and is crucial to team performance and talent retention.
